Balfour Wilson Recruitment is a UK-wide permanent recruitment partner for employers. One agency, twelve sectors, consultants who actually understand the roles they fill, and a process designed around your hiring deadline, not ours.
From the warehouse floor to the boardroom, we partner with UK employers across the full spread of British industry. Every vacancy is handled by a consultant who knows the sector, the salary bands and the talent pool.
We do not pretend to recruit in every niche on earth. We focus on twelve core verticals where we have built consultant expertise, employer relationships and live candidate pipelines, so you receive a focused shortlist instead of a flood of CVs.
Pickers, packers, forklift drivers, warehouse supervisors, transport planners and depot managers for distribution centres and 3PL operations.
Front-of-house, kitchen brigades, hotel teams, event staff and venue managers for restaurants, hotels, catering venues and the events sector.
Care assistants, registered nurses, support workers, healthcare administrators and clinical leads for residential homes, domiciliary providers and private clinics.
Solicitors, paralegals, legal secretaries, compliance officers, office managers and HR professionals for law firms, chambers and professional practices.
Bookkeepers, management accountants, financial controllers, auditors, payroll professionals and finance directors across practice and industry.
Software engineers, IT support, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data, project managers and senior technology leadership for in-house and product teams.
Site managers, project managers, quantity surveyors, estimators, electricians, plumbers and skilled trades for housebuilders, civil engineering firms and M&E specialists.
Production operatives, maintenance technicians, design engineers, quality, plant managers and operations leadership for UK manufacturers.
Business development, account management, telesales, marketing executives, brand and content leads, plus sales directors for SMEs and scale-ups.
Customer service advisors, team leaders, complaints handlers, ops coordinators and operations managers for contact centres and back-office teams.
Trainers, assessors, learning and development leads, course administrators and training managers for private training providers and corporate L&D teams.
Store managers, area managers, buyers, visual merchandisers, supply chain and head office roles for high street retailers, e-commerce and FMCG brands.
Within those twelve sectors, four desks see the highest demand from UK employers. Here is what we do, day in, day out, on each one.
Distribution centres · 3PL · e-commerce fulfilment
UK distribution and 3PL operators are under constant pressure to scale teams without compromising on safety or throughput. We hire the supervisors, planners and managers who keep operations moving, plus pickers, packers and FLT drivers for permanent shift teams.
Every candidate is screened on shift availability, right-to-work, compliance and references before they reach you. We work to your start date and your salary banding, not someone else's.
Residential · domiciliary · private clinics
Care providers are competing for the same shrinking talent pool. We help residential homes, supported living services and domiciliary providers fill permanent positions properly, with vetted candidates who actually want to stay.
All candidates go through enhanced reference checks, right-to-work and DBS confirmation before shortlist. We brief on rota patterns, pay banding and progression so your interviews are productive from the first call.
Practice · industry · SME · group finance
From regional practices needing audit seniors through to industry teams hiring controllers, we recruit the full finance ladder. Our consultants understand qualification routes, study support packages and the difference between AAT, ACCA, ACA and CIMA-led roles.
We benchmark salaries against current UK market data and pre-screen on technical fit, ensuring shortlists arrive ready for first-stage interview rather than CV review.
In-house · product · SaaS · managed services
Whether you are scaling a product engineering team or hiring your first dedicated IT manager, we recruit across the full UK technology stack. Our consultants screen on stack, environment and seniority, not just buzzwords.
We support remote, hybrid and on-site teams with permanent placements only, from junior support engineers through to senior technology leadership and CTOs.
We work for you, not for the candidates. That means honest briefings, curated shortlists and consultants who push back when a role is unrealistic, instead of carpet-bombing you with CVs.
Consultants who have worked in or alongside the industries they recruit for, so they can read CVs properly and brief candidates accurately.
Every shortlisted candidate is interviewed, reference-checked and right-to-work confirmed before they ever reach your inbox.
Clear timelines, written candidate summaries and weekly progress updates. No black boxes, no surprises mid-process.
If a permanent placement leaves within the agreed period, we work to replace them at no additional fee.
If your salary is below market or your spec is unrealistic for the timeline, we tell you up front rather than wasting four weeks of your hiring window.
Most permanent shortlists are with you within 5 to 10 working days, depending on seniority and location of the role.
A clean, repeatable process that respects your time. You always know where the role is, what comes next and when to expect candidates.
A short call to understand the role, the team, the culture and what genuinely good looks like to you.
We write a clear brief, agree the salary banding, must-haves and nice-to-haves, and confirm the timeline.
Targeted search across our network, headhunting and trusted databases. We screen every CV before you see it.
You receive a focused shortlist with our notes, we coordinate interviews and manage the offer through to start date.
A clear one-pager outlining the role, salary band, must-haves and timeline, agreed with you before sourcing begins.
Three to five candidates per role, each with a written consultant summary covering fit, motivation and notice period.
Diary management, candidate prep, post-interview debriefs and clear feedback both ways throughout the process.
Offer negotiation, counter-offer management, reference completion and onboarding check-ins through to day one.
We recruit across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with consultants who know the local talent markets, salary expectations and commuter belts in each region.
The questions UK employers ask us most often, before they instruct us on a vacancy.
For most permanent roles we deliver a curated shortlist within 5 to 10 working days. Senior or niche roles can take 2 to 4 weeks. We agree a realistic timeline at the briefing stage so you know exactly what to expect.
Every permanent placement is covered by a replacement guarantee. If the candidate leaves within the agreed period for reasons covered by the agreement, we work to replace them at no additional fee.
Yes. We work on individual permanent vacancies and on multi-hire campaigns, including new site openings, expansion projects and entire team builds across our twelve sectors.
We charge a percentage of the agreed first-year salary, payable on the candidate's start date. Fee levels are agreed in writing before any candidate is submitted, with no hidden retainers and no upfront cost.
Yes. Balfour Wilson Recruitment is a permanent recruitment specialist. We do not handle temporary, interim or any non-permanent engagement. Every candidate we shortlist is being placed into a permanent role.
No. Our model is curated shortlist, not CV bombing. You typically receive 3 to 5 fully briefed candidates per role, each with a written consultant summary covering fit, motivation and notice period.
We recruit across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with consultants familiar with each regional market. We also support fully remote and hybrid permanent roles for distributed UK teams.
Submit the role using our vacancy form on the Contact page, or call us during working hours, Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm. A consultant will be in touch the same working day to book a briefing call.
Tell us what you are hiring for and we will come back the same working day with a clear plan, realistic timeline and a focused shortlist. Permanent placements only, no flood of irrelevant CVs, no obligation.
